Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 26, 2026

1. Introduction

At Payquill, we believe privacy is a fundamental right. We've designed our invoicing software from the ground up to protect your business data. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our website, application, and services.

2. Our "Privacy First" Approach

Payquill operates on a hybrid storage model tailored to protect your privacy:

  • Local Users (Guests): All your invoice data, client directories, and assets are stored entirely locally in your browser's IndexedDB. We do not transmit, collect, or store this data on our servers.
  • Cloud Sync Users (Authenticated): If you choose to create an account to sync your data across devices, your information is securely transmitted and stored in our encrypted database. We only access this data to provide the sync service.

3. Information We Collect

If you use Payquill without an account, we do not collect any personal or business data. If you create an account, we collect:

  • Account Information: Name, email address, and authentication data provided by our identity provider (Clerk).
  • Synced Data: Invoices, client details, and settings you choose to sync to our cloud.
  • Usage Data: Basic, anonymized analytics to help us improve the performance and usability of Payquill.

4. Digital Signatures and Audit Trails

When utilizing our Digital Signature feature:

  • We collect the signer's email address, IP address, and user-agent string to generate a secure, immutable audit trail.
  • This audit log is stored securely to verify the authenticity of the signature event.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal or business data to third parties. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

  • With essential service providers (e.g., hosting, authentication, email delivery) who are bound by strict confidentiality agreements.
  • When required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Payquill, our users, or others.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to access, update, or delete your personal data. For local users, you can clear your browser data at any time. Cloud Sync users can manage or delete their accounts directly through the application settings or by contacting our support team.

7. Contact Us
